Contemporary art is sure making its presence felt in the city. And it couldn't have found a better platform to attract enthusiasts than the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2012 which is set to present some of the best works by Indian and international artists, both established and emerging. Kochi was chosen to host the 2012′s Biennale as it is a very ancient trade post and equally a cosmopolitan city today. 

Created by contemporary artists, Riyas Komu and Bose Krishnamachari, the biennale aims to promote art through a myriad of mediums such as conventional art, films, installations, sculpture, new media and performance art. As the name of the event suggests, the biennale will be a celebration of contemporary art in Kerala by presenting artworks in multiple non-conventional venues such as public places, heritage buildings and existing exhibition sites throughout Kochi and the ancient port city of Muziris. Men are more likely to orgasm when sex includes vaginal intercourse and women are more likely to orgasm when they engage in a variety of sex acts, a new study has revealed.

Findings from the study of sexual and sexual-health behaviours conducted by Indiana University has provided an updated and much needed snapshot of contemporary Americans'' sexual behaviours, including a description of more than 40 combinations of sexual acts that people perform during sexual events, patterns of condom use by adolescents and adults, and the percentage of Americans participating in same-sex encounters.
  

The National Survey of Sexual Health and Behaviour (NSSHB) is one of the most comprehensive studies on these topics in almost two decades and documents the sexual experiences and condom-use behaviours of 5,865 adolescents and adults ages 14 to 94.
        
According to the study's findings, one of four acts of vaginal intercourse are condom protected in the U.S. (one in three among singles).

 "These data about sexual behaviours and condom use in contemporary America are critically needed by medical and public health professionals who are on the front lines addressing issues such as HIV, sexually transmissible infections and unintended pregnancy," said Michael Reece of the Centre for Sexual Health Promotion.

Debby Herbenick, of the CSHP said Herbenick said: "Findings show that condoms are used twice as often with casual sexual partners as with relationship partners, a trend that is consistent for both men and women across age groups that span 50 years."

The report has also suggested that adults using a condom for intercourse were just as likely to rate the sexual extent positively in terms of arousal, pleasure and orgasm than when having intercourse without one.

Many older adults continue to have active pleasurable sex lives, reporting a range of different behaviours and partner types, however adults over the age of 40 have the lowest rates of condom use. Although these individuals may not be as concerned about pregnancy, this suggests the need to enhance education efforts for older individuals regarding STI risks and prevention.

The findings were published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine

The attitude toward oral sex represents a dramatic and sudden shift in thinking since 1991, when a similar survey found that nearly twice as many young adults (about 40 percent) would classify oral-genital contact as sex.

Pointing to former President Clinton's infamous statement, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman," as the pivotal turning point in society's changing views about oral sex, researchers dubbed this attitude shift as the "Clinton-Lewinsky" effect.

"Like President Clinton, adolescents and young adults often interpret these words with a degree of latitude, depending on whether they want to maintain an image of being sexually experienced or inexperienced," CBS News quoted Jason D. Hans and colleagues at the University of Kentucky, Lexington as saying.

The authors said that a surge in abstinence-only education and sex education programs that focus primarily on vaginal-penile intercourse also may play a role in the disassociation of oral-genital stimulation from sex.

The survey involved 477 undergraduate students, mostly white heterosexual females, enrolled in a human sexuality class.

The survey found that only 20 percent of those surveyed said oral contact with their partner's genitals would constitute sex.

Less than 80 percent of participants considered penile-anal intercourse as sex.

Males were much more likely than females to say sex included the following behaviours -- their partner touched their genitals, orally stimulating a partner's breasts or nipples, touching a partner's breast or nipples.

Medical students score the most in the bedroom

A recent survey has revealed that medical students have more sexual partners than students of any other discipline.
 
According to a survey conducted over more than 1000 students at Cambridge University have revealed that medical students had an average of eight sexual partners in their lives so far.
 
The results also showed that students studying theology had the fewest number of sexual partners with two while political science students had seven and those studying history had six partners.
 
And students doing language courses had an average of five sexual partners.
 
However, poor performers were likely to have a higher than average number of sexual partners.
 
Student union president Mark Fletcher told student newspaper Varsity, which conducted the survey, that the results were no surprise to him.
 
"It's obvious that the mathematicians haven't found the winning formula yet," News.com.au quoted Mr Fletcher, as saying.
 
"But it's good to see that doctors and nurses is still a popular game," he added. 
 
The findings also revealed that around 25 per cent of respondents admitted on trying sado-masochism and 40 per cent said they had had a one-night stand,
 
However, more than 60 per cent said they had never been checked for sexually transmitted diseases.

Also, a kiss shared between a man and a woman seems more like a clash of spirits than a meeting of souls.

"Women tend to use kissing to create a bond with their partners, and to assess them as potential mates. Meanwhile, men use kissing as a means to an end," said Susan Hughes, a psychologist at Albright College in Pennsylvania, told Life's Little Mysteries.

And that end is sex.

"Males are kissing primarily to increase arousal for their partner," she said.

Hughes and her colleagues researchers probed the kissing preferences and opinions of more than 1,000 males and females in their sexual prime -- college undergraduates -- who were asked to mark their answers to a series of detailed kissing questions on a 5-point scale.

The results showed that both men and women consider kissing an important and highly intimate interaction. Both sexes use kissing to gauge the relationship compatibility of themselves and their partners.

Furthermore, both may become more or less attracted to their partners based solely on their experience kissing them, a result that lends support to the theory that pheromones and other important biochemical signals get exchanged when people kiss.

But the similarities end there. While women usually consider a bad kiss to be a deal-breaker, men reported that they would more than likely still have sex with a woman even if she were a bad kisser.

In fact, the data showed that males feel much more strongly that kissing should lead to sex than females do.

"Whereas females felt there was a greater likelihood that kissing should lead to sex with a long-term partner than a short-term partner, males felt that in either instance, kissing should lead to sex," wrote the researchers.

Men also like significantly wetter kisses. The gender divide becomes drastic when the kissing involves short-term partners, who presumably hold primarily sexual rather than romantic appeal. In the short-term, men like kisses to be wet, while women do not.

Psychologists hypothesize that males "perceive a greater wetness or salivary exchange during kissing as an index of the female's sexual arousal/receptivity, similar to the act of sexual intercourse," wrote Hughes.

Follow-up research conducted by Helen Fisher, an anthropologist at Rutgers University, in 2009 even found that men pass testosterone to women via their saliva, which may momentarily increase the women''s sex drive.

From the analyses, it was found that the man with a full head of hair received 108 responses, compared with 22 received by the page showing him with thinning and receding hair.
 
"People inevitably make judgments based on first visual impressions and it appears that beauty is not only skin deep but that many Britons have follicle foibles," The Telegraph quoted Andreas Adamides, chief executive officer of Maximum Hair, as saying.
 
"The research illustrates that many women are attracted by men with a full head of hair, which historically has been related to virility.
 
"This social experiment illustrates that in the world of online dating a person's photo is far more important than their personality profile," Andreas said.

CSE, the capital stock market of Kochi, was established in 1978 with just 5 companies listed and 14 members. The figure has grown to more than 350 companies listed  and above 500 members today. This itself implies the growth span that the Cochin Stock Exchange Ltd. have had over the years. It has become a vital promoter of businesses, not just to the ones in Kochi, but to the entire state. A new theme song for Kochi Tuskers Kerala

The song is supposed to be a theme song dedicated for Kochi's own IPL team, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and is sung by Anitha Shaiq, the 'O maama maama chandamaama' fame. Couldn't find any connection of the official KTK management with this video though.
